Introduction to Trang Travel Guide

Trang is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Satun.

In 1893, the governor, Phraya Ratsadanupradit Mahison Phakdi, chose to make Trang a significant port. The governor imported rubber saplings from Malaya and planted them in Trang in 1899. As a result, Trang was the first area in Thailand to grow rubber, and it represents the country’s major export until this day. According to legend, ships from various nations frequently arrived in Kantang port at dawn, which is how Trang got its name. The name ‘Trang’ is derived from the Malay word ‘Terang’, which means ‘Dawn’.

Trang is a gorgeous coastal province with a long, attractive coastline extending along the Andaman Sea. The province has two beautiful rivers: the Trang River, which flows from the Khao Luang Mountain Range, and the Palian River, which flows from the Banthat Mountain Range. Trang provides a wide range of amazing places and experiences and is suitable for anyone wishing to travel off the main tourist destinations in Thailand.
